This is a pretty little village about 90 minute drive from Wenzhou, Zhejiang province. Easiest way is to catch the light rail to Yueqing and ride up from there. Roads are pretty good, and plenty of beautiful scenery. There once was good pizza in Huangtandong, but in 2025 it was very very ordinary. Once in the village, theres plenty worth seeing, so if you don’t like walking in cycling shoes, bring some other shoes.
If you’re driving, best avoid sunny weekends. I’ve seen pretty bad traffic jams. Parking at the top of the mountain could be easier, but a tough walk back at the end of the day.
This is the Strava route I took to Huangtandong. The route back was longer, and took me to a different train station, but its a fun ride down.

There’s plenty of other options to get there. North from Baishi is also pretty nice, and very popular with cyclists. Its also along one of Wenzhou’s green tourist roads, so there’s plenty to see along the way.

Here’s another video I made just using my drone footage. I don’t have the courage to make stunning drone shots.
